Immortal for a Moment: Small Answers to Big Questions About Life, Love, and Letting Go by Natasha Badhwar is a touching and introspective collection of personal essays that delve into the complexities of motherhood, marriage, relationships, and everyday life. With heartfelt honesty, Badhwar shares her life experiences, offering readers an intimate glimpse into her journey of self-discovery and emotional growth.

At the heart of the book is Badhwar’s family. She writes with raw vulnerability about her marriage, reflecting on the adjustments, compromises, and deep understanding she shares with her partner. Her portrayal of parenthood is equally tender, capturing both the joys and challenges of raising children and navigating the daily rituals of family life. Each essay feels like a conversation with the reader, offering thoughtful insights into the many roles she plays—daughter, wife, mother, friend, and sister.

The essays explore universal themes of love, loss, inter-religious marriage, and healing. Her storytelling has the perfect balance of warmth, humour, and sensitivity, making the book both uplifting and emotionally resonant.

I laughed, cried, turned pensive, and even highlighted a few lines that resonated a lot with me.

The most important work any of us will ever do is at home, within the oasis of our family and relationships.

Growing up means listening to everyone and then not listening to anyone.

If I want to see change, I have to be the change myself.

However, the writing is not without flaws. The disjointed narrative structure irked me, as it makes the entire book appear as fragmented sections.

Immortal for a Moment is a deeply relatable and comforting read, especially for those seeking reflection on life’s small moments and big questions. This book serves as a gentle reminder to appreciate the fleeting moments, embrace vulnerability, and find meaning in the everyday complexities of life.
