Angry Hippo written by Liviu Ciulinaru and Alis Mirea is a picture book about a Hippo who loses temper often.
Be it in the classroom, or in the playground; Angry Hippo tends to explode with anger. Thankfully for him, Kind Hippo comes to his rescue. She is polite, kind and helpful. She shares with him the secret of dealing with anger.
The ‘Hippo Hug Freeze,’ works like magic. Angry Hippo learns that lots of things can make one angry, but it’s how one handles the anger that matters most. He even shares the idea with his family.
It’s fun, and easy to read. The vocabulary is familiar, and sentences are short. Font is large sized, and casual. The flow is fast and engaging.
The Illustrations by Katarina Jelić are absolutely adorable. There’s also a coloring page in the end, and kids might enjoy bringing the hippos to life.
It’s a valuable resource for parents, and educators to help teach children understand their emotions, and learn how to deal with it. We can use this book in both group and one-on-one sessions.
This book is part of a 3-book series. The other two books are Calm Hippo and Anxious Hippo.
Perfect picture book for imparting an important life-lesson.
I received an ARC from Reedsy in exchange for an honest review.
