BITS and Pieces, A College of My BITSian Memories is Harshita Nanda’s trip down memory lane. She takes the readers back in time to the campus of BITS Pilani, her alma mater.
There are 26 chapters in this book, titled alphabetically. The lucid writing and fast-paced narration transported me to the campus. Harshita’s various recollections and anecdotes bring the pages to life. I enjoyed visiting the campus, classrooms, the various bhawans, and the mess. Getting familiar with the jargon, knowing the students, and being a part of their lives was interesting. Certainly, readers having a connection with the institute would be more emotionally invested and be able to relate to the book on a better level.
The illustrations are another stellar aspect of this book. The illustrator has created customized and delightful images for each alphabet. It aptly depicts the content of the chapter. My only grouse is regarding the placement. The illustrations appear at the end of every chapter, instead of at the start. Introducing the chapter with illustrations would have created a better layout and enhanced the appeal. E.g., The illustration for the chapter starting with M faces the next alphabet.
Pick up BITS and Pieces if you are looking for a light-hearted read. It will surely remind the readers of their college days.
