My Favourite TV Shows

I find making recommendations to be one of the most difficult things in the world! When someone asks me about my favourite food, book, author, movie, or show, I get stumped. How am I supposed to answer that? Choosing just a few of the many things I adore feels like a betrayal. Does anyone else feel the same? 😊

Anyhoo, here I am with a list of my absolute favourite shows. The key word here is ‘absolute’ (wink, wink)

There is one thing that I always look for in a series: entertainment. Humor, satire, drama, and thrillers are my favourite genres! When it comes to lighthearted fun viewing and rom-coms or K-dramas, I enjoy watching them with my daughters. On the other hand, my husband and I are fans of crime and thriller shows.

Family, love, and friendship-based series

Ginny and Georgia

Ginny and Georgia

I love everything about Georgia. Her free spirit, never-say-die attitude, and fashion sense are captivating. Her unique and interesting relationship with her children is truly special. And did I mention how crazy I am about her accent? Ginny and Austin are absolutely adorable as well.

But it’s not just the characters that make this series interesting. It has all the elements – drama, suspense, romance, and humor. We are eagerly waiting for the next season!

Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls

Another mother-daughter drama that is very close to my heart. The relationship between Lorelai and Rory is incredibly cute. The small town, Lorelai’s struggles, Rory’s aspirations, and the complex relationships add depth to the show, making it truly memorable.

Friends

Friends

If there’s one series I’ve watched countless times, it’s Friends! I became a Friends fan in the early 2000s, and I’m glad my teens are fans too. Watching the reunion with my daughters is an experience I will never forget.

How I Met Your Motherhow i met your mother

I can’t recommend this series enough. If you love sarcasm, wit, banter, and emotional drama, then this one is for you.

Modern Family

Oh, how I love this family! They are so normal, yet uniquely weird. The bonding between the extended family members is heartwarming.

Heartstopper

heartstopper

I loved Alice Osman’s Heartstopper series. And much to my joy, the Netflix series did justice to the graphic novel.

My heart melts every time I hear the line, “Why are we like this?”

A few thrilling series that I can’t rave enough about

Marcella

Marcella

This British series revolving around female detective Marcella kept us on the edge of our seats. Ray Panthaki as Rav Sangha and Anna Friel as Marcella Backland have given memorable performances.

Baby Reindeer

Oof! This is one crazy series that I can’t recommend enough. A female stalker, dark secrets, thrilling reveals, and gripping narration. It has it all. Just watch it, that’s all I can say!

How to Get Away with Murder

how to get away with murder

This legal drama thriller television series originally premiered on ABC in 2014. However, I recently watched it on Netflix.

Viola Davis delivers a flawless performance as Annalise Keating, a lawyer who teaches a class and selects the brightest students to assist her in cases at the firm

Books adapted to Series

I hate it when the series is a poor caricature of the original works. Can think of a few that were such dismal adaptations.

Safe, Stay Close, The Stranger, and Behind Her Eyes

Having read all these books before watching the series, I can confidently say that these adaptations are well done. They are definitely worth watching.

Family favourites

As a family, we love re-watching series. I know what you’re thinking. Why watch a series again when there’s always new material, right? Well, what can I say? If you love something, you just love it!

Timeless and Zoo are forever family favourites. Unfortunately, both the series are no longer available on Netflix.

Timeless

Timeless

In this series, a historian, a soldier, and a scientist travel through time to save history.

Zoo

zoo

Adapted from James Patterson’s novel of the same name, this high-adrenaline series brings together a group of varied professionals to investigate a mysterious outbreak of violent animal attacks on humans worldwide.

Phew! This was much harder than I expected. Have you watched any of these series? And please, share your recommendations. I wouldn’t mind adding a few more to my TBW (To Be Watched) list 😊
