November began in the worst possible manner. With two extremely disappointing reads, I was in a reading slump. I couldn’t pick up any book until The Blogchatter Book of Thrillers came to my rescue. And thanks to this book, I am back to reading books again. Yay!!

The cover is outright spooky, and I was excited to dive into the collection.

This anthology of fifteen stories is written by various authors. And as has been my experience with anthologies, this is a mixed bag too. There are a few stories that gave me a WOW experience while a few missed the mark.

I have rated the stories according to the delivery, uniqueness of the premise, and the thrill factor (definitely the most important factor here.) I am not sharing detailed reviews on the individual stories, but leaving just a word/ single line that conveys my reading experience.

Stories that garnered 4-5 stars
  • The Secrets Of Nandini Rutuja (twisted to the core!)
  • The Encounter (Bollywood-style entertainer)
  • Fragments Of Yesterday (unexpected reveals)
  • The Dactyist (interesting as hell!)
  • Black (fabulous!)
  • A Husband’s Guide To Set A Wife Right (dark and thrilling)
  • The Silver Anklet (my personal favourite)
  • What Runs In Our Blood (intoxicating)
  • Hartoli’s Duty (undoubtedly the best of the lot)

Stories that garnered 3-4 stars
  • Against My Windowpane
  • The Last Rasam
  • Memory’s Missing Piece
  • What Tomorrow Holds
  • The Fields
  • One Night

While not all stories are high on the thrill factor, the overall collection is not disappointing. Most of the stories are well written, with excellent prose and reasonable pacing. I only wish a few of them were lengthier. It would have helped the readers form deeper bonds with the characters.

I highly recommend The Blogchatter Book of Thrillers to fans of thrillers, short stories, and quick reads.
