Alone – In the midst of crowd

I stand surrounded by mortals

And, yet, never have I felt more lone

Not a smile one has to offer

Why doesn’t anyone care no more?

And then my eyes meet yours

Oh child, 

I see the longing in your eyes

For they reflect my own cries

A colourless life seeped in sadness 

Burdened by countless failed expectations 

I wish to tell you

What I wanted to hear my entire life

“It’s ok to stumble and fall

You aren’t a failure”

I feel your pain, for it’s a part of me

A silent prayer I say for you
